Global Internet traffic has increased by 19 per cent, Al robot traffic has exceeded 4 per cent and Google remains dominant

According to the latest Internet Trends Review 2025 released by Cloudflare, global Internet traffic is 19 per cent higher than last year. As Internet access continues to increase, the digital divide changes – The year witnessed both the formal end of the AOL dial-up (discontinuation of service on 30 September) and the extension of network coverage to the remotest corners of the Earth by satellite technology, such as the chain of stars.

As one of the core service providers supporting the Internet infrastructure, Cloudflare ‘ s status as a network hub was confirmed this year by the disruption of many mainstream website services, such as Spotify, Google, Snapchat, Discord and Nintendo, due to malfunctions. Claudflare has a unique insight into the web ecology through its role as a traffic gateway. The report also revealed the following key trends: AI became an important source of trafficMany websites report a surge in robotic activity with the dispatch of reptiles by AI to large-scale capture network data. Cloudflare data show that AI robots already account for 4.2 per cent of all HTML requests. The second half of the year boosted the year-wide volume growthAccording to Cloudflare: “The continued growth of global Internet traffic reflects our dependence on networks.” The flow curve recovered from mid-January and stabilized after work and learning had returned to normal in the new year. The data show a moderate increase in flows between January and July, with a marked increase in the second half of the year.

Google maintains Internet dominance.Despite intense competition with OpenAI in the AI area, Google remains the world ‘ s most popular Internet service, followed by Facebook, Apple and Microsoft. ChatGPT didn’t even get into the top 10. Google also provides GoogleBot, the head search engine and the most common browser, Chrome.

Androids lead the flow.Anjo equipment accounts for 65 per cent of global online traffic, with iOS accounting for the rest. There are significant regional differences: iOS has a high penetration rate of 70 per cent in some regions and 56 per cent of mobile traffic in the United States. The network is expanding. With 2.3 times the growth of the chain over the past year, the launch of the 10,000th satellite milestone with SpaceX made an important contribution to network access in remote areas.

ChatGPT leads the AI service fieldThe report shows that ChatGPT is the most popular AI service (separated from the Internet service category). Unsurprisingly, despite recent progress by Gemini 3, Google Gemini ranks only fourth, lagging behind Claude/Anthropic and Perplexity.
