Viet Nam’s hands-on market revenue reached $825 million in 2025, and local payment channels were key to growth

According to the latest report issued by the localized Vietnamese operator Gamota, the mobile game market in Viet Nam achieved $825 million in 2025, an increase of 9.16 per cent over the same period, bringing the total number of players to nearly 54 million, continuing a steady growth trend.

Despite the large base of players, only 7 to 10 per cent of paid players are currently classified as high-consumption players, with 2 to 3 per cent. The average income per user was approximately $15.27. The report’s analysis of 50 games in the head shows that the market in Viet Nam is highly concentrated in a few leading works. Viet Nam ranks among the top seven markets for downloads of global mobile games. The report notes, however, that the country ‘ s liquidity structure is being transformed and that developers are increasingly relying on local payment systems rather than on the procurement channels within standard applications. According to the report, local payment patterns are becoming a major driver of profitability because of their lower transaction costs and their greater conformity with Vietnamese player consumption habits.

Regulatory changes are also reshaping the market. According to Decree No. 147, Vietnamese authorities are working with platform holders, including apples and Google, to identify and remove unauthorized games. The policy requires all games operating in Viet Nam to be licensed by the Government, which increases the importance of international studios seeking access to markets working with local distributors. The report also points out that income is highly concentrated on the type of games that are at the centre of progress, such as the MMORPG and the 4X strategy games, which lead to player expenditure through mechanisms that emphasize the accumulation of force and competitive advantage. Looking ahead, Viet Nam is projected to download around 1.34 billion mobile games in 2026.
