Cash App is now formally operational on-line payment links, a new P2P payment tool that allows for the initiation of collection requests as quickly as text messaging. Users can now generate shared links to Cash App collection requests and send them through any channels, such as text messages, mail, social media and instant messaging applications.

According to a survey commissioned by Cash App in 2024, 53 per cent of Z generation respondents sent a reminder message before sending a request for collection, and 49 per cent sent a follow-up message after sending a request. The payment link facility streamlines the redundant steps in this process, allowing users to share receipt requests directly in settings where they already interact with relatives and friends (e.g. text messages, private letters). Cash App’s P2P and Web Product Manager Kristen Anderson said: “The payment link makes the flow of money more seamless, but equally important, it makes the collection more human and less embarrassing. It is common to hear from users that sending collection requests and pushing notifications in applications sometimes appears to be too formal or even a bit eccentric. The solution to pay-links is to allow users to send requests through the platform they feel most naturally, thereby adding context, ease or sense of humor to the dialogue.”

Users can use the Cash App payment tab to access the regular request process to generate payment links. In this interface, you do not need to click ” Add payee ” , but choose the ” Share Link ” option to generate an exclusive link that can be shared anywhere. When the recipient clicks on the link, the Cash App will open a payment interface for pre-filled amounts and notes that the recipient can complete the payment in seconds. Cash App Payment Link also supports reuse, which means that users can share it with multiple recipients to request payment and can be used to collect periodic fees.

The payment link is now open to all eligible individual Cash App users and Cash App for Business accounts.
